BREAKING DOWN SYSTEMS ONE PILOT AT A TIME
In a world where gods have been domesticated by institutions, a Mercybinder cut off from her goddess must decide whether mercy means ending suffering, preserving life, or breaking the sacred system that taught her the difference.
"MERCY"
"DEAD AND TRENDING"
Trapped as a ghost in her childhood home after dying on a livestream, a teenage influencer discovers the grieving boy who moves into her bedroom can sense her presence, and that being truly seen for the first time might cost them both more than they bargained for.
When two teenage artists from rival music labels fall for each other in 2000, the industry doesn't punish the scandal. It punishes their unprofitability.
"TWO HOUSEHOLDS"
BLACK MIRROR
"GENESIS"
A scientist sets out to preserve humanity's capacity for empathy after climate collapse, and becomes, by degrees, the thing she was trying to prevent.
SHYLAH ADDANTE is a television drama writer whose work centers on people surviving inside institutions designed to break them. Her original pilots include THRESHOLD, a one-hour animated fantasy drama about a divine arbiter forced to deliver mercy after her goddess goes silent; GHOSTFISH, a supernatural dramedy about a dead teenage influencer tethered to her former home; and STARCROSSED, a Y2K music-industry drama about young artists caught inside rival corporate machines.
Her produced work includes The Christmas Dragon, a feature film featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000, Season 13. She is also the author of the YA fantasy novel Garden of Thorns and Light. She completed the UCLA Professional Program in Television Writing, where she developed original pilots and a Black Mirror spec. She holds an Ed.D. studying how institutions manage people who present as problems, which continues to shape her work as a writer.
